Our client, a healthcare regulator, needed to transform its operating model. The sector-led model, looking at individual providers in different, individual sub-sectors, meant the overall quality of joined-up care was not being sufficiently considered. The model also promoted siloed working, generating inconsistency, inefficiency and organisational rigidity. In addition, the organisation was not fully exploiting the opportunities provided by digital technology to let data and systems ‘do the transactional work’ and free up resources for more strategic regulation.
We worked with the client to agree a clearer set of strategic priorities and brought these into a single unified roadmap for change across all sectors. This was coupled with a review of governance to streamline and coordinate decision-making. The work resulted in:
- a clear roadmap with four core priority programmes
- clear priorities for each programme, which enabled the organisation to deliver a new digital portal for registering providers, halving registration time
- a structured programme for driving place-based reviews, looking across providers and regulating overall health and care system performance to deliver for patients and service users.
”Gate One turned around complex thinking quickly into something that is comprehensible and practically implementable. The team had a great breadth of knowledge and this level of expertise and experience has been one of the biggest success factors surrounding delivery.
