“To support the growth of our Public Sector team, we’re very pleased to announce the arrival of Kath O’Dwyer as our new advisor for our People, Place and Care team. Kath’s experience and passion in local government will support us in strengthening our service delivery and impact for our Public Sector clients.” said Nick Kennell, Public Sector Lead, Gate One.
Kath brings 42 years of local government service, with 8 years’ experience as a Local Authority Chief Executive. Kath is currently a Solace Board Chair, as well as being a qualified executive coach and mentor. Her extensive experience spans across government departments, regional and national partners, children’s services, health and care, blue light services and voluntary and community groups.
As a Chief Executive, Kath has led the successful and effective improvement of two failing councils, which were the subject of government and LGA concerns. Kath started her career as a Children’s Social Worker, and as a DCS she led the effective turnaround of four Children’s Services directorates to remove government intervention and deliver improved Ofsted inspection ratings. Kath also has three years’ experience as part of a government intervention team to Children’s services, which was commissioned by the government and delivered via a contract with Serco and as National Director for Ofsted.
“I am delighted to be joining Gate One as an advisor to support their work with public sector partners. I have had a fabulous career in local government and look forward to the opportunity to support the Gate One team in their work to improve and transform public services to achieve better outcomes for residents and customers.” said Kath O’Dwyer.
Kath has a national reputation as an effective leader, often speaking at conferences and on podcasts, as well as serving as a judge for national awards, leading LGA Peer Reviews, and holding various spokesperson roles for Solace.
Kath’s passion for public service, and local government in particular, shines through in her career history, and aligns seamlessly with Gate One’s commitment to drive lasting impact for communities, organisations and their people.
With years of experience in industry and consulting, our Public Sector team understands how to make transformation projects successful.
