Gate One gives back

Gate One, the digital and business transformation consultancy, chose ‘Gate One gives back’ as the theme for its winter Gateaway event this year, participating in a range of activities to support local charities and initiatives.

Two-thirds of the Gate One team spent the day in their local community organising food donations, wrapping gifts, writing Christmas cards and volunteering on a farm for charities including BIG Alliance, City Harvest, The Felix Project, Royal Trinity Hospice and Shelter.

Another group delivered workshops and complimentary consultancy support across ten charities including Make a Wish, Mencap, Meningitis Now, The Felix Project and Wac Arts. They helped address a specific challenge or concern, ranging from improving employee onboarding experiences, to enhancing customer journeys and improving sustainability offerings.

The final group visited two schools in East London as part of Gate One’s Youth Outreach programme, running workshops to inspire young people to identify the skills they already have and use these as a guide when making early career choices.

In total, the team worked with 17 charities across 36 volunteering experiences.

Umbar Shakir, a client director and CSR lead at Gate One, said: “We recognise that the rising cost of living has left many charities and not-for-profit organisations with limited resources to provide key services that are so desperately needed by people in our local communities. Instead of our usual December away day, we were passionate about giving back to our communities, and were delighted to bring the Gate One team together to use our skills and time to give back to some amazing charities. Be it volunteering, or problem-solving hackathons. we’re so glad to have made such a positive impact for those in need in the lead up to Christmas.”

Throughout the day, Gate One employees were also donating money to their charity partners Resurgo, FareShare, Hubbub, SANE and The Childhood Trust. They raised over £3,200, including gift aid, bringing the total raised over the year to over £18,000.
