The world is a challenging place right now, and that environment makes it very, very difficult for any business leader to be able to plan for the long term.
We’ve been through a period of high inflation and low growth. I think that is shifting slightly. From the conversations that I’ve been having in the C-suite, growth is definitely appearing more and more as a strategic priority
What it means is that the focus that’s been on operational efficiency and operational improvements over the last three to four years, that will, of course, remain. But we’re going to see investment moving into growth. I think 24, 25, this period is going to be proved to be quite a pivotal year.
Leaders are focussing on three things.
Firstly, they really need to be thinking about the flexibility of their strategy, the ability to pivot quickly and effectively.
Secondly, around increasing the degree of agility within the businesses that they operate.
And then thirdly, technology is really at the top of everyone’s agenda.
According to Gartner®, over 50% of CEOs are saying that their digital transformation is far from over and, in fact, only just getting started, and we’re certainly seeing that in the types of engagements that we’re working on.
A huge amount of investment is going into how to use digital technology to transform the customer experience. The volumes of data that are now available are giving businesses almost unprecedented insights into the way that we behave as consumers. And that’s enabling a degree of personalisation and the creation of personalised experiences that just haven’t been possible before.
A key question that I’m actually asking myself as a business leader is how do we use technology, digital solutions and data to transform the relationship that we have with our customers? And that’s true for every business leader across the world. That is a really critical question that we all should be asking ourselves right now.
