The Gate One Incubator continues to go from strength to strength with the owners of one of its food businesses being recognized at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Ashley Shakibai, a manager at Gate One and deputy head of the firm’s Incubator program, and his business partner Anushi Desai, were listed among the 15 Food Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2021 at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Ashley and Anushi are the co-founders of Plant Pops, a range of popped lotus seed snacks sourced sustainably from farmers in India. Plant Pops also won the 2019 World Food Innovation Awards, Snacking Innovation of the Year.

Of the recognition, Ashley said: “What a way to start 2021. To be listed among a group of exciting entrepreneurs making waves in their industry in the UK is a real honor. The Incubator has been a major contributor to our success and we’re looking forward to making more waves with the team going forward.”

The Incubator has been at the heart of Gate One’s business philosophy since the company was founded in 2013. It gives its consultants the opportunity to explore their own business ideas in a supportive environment. To date, more than 60 ideas have been launched through the Incubator. There are currently 18 live businesses, with 4 having raised external funding.
